Hermes Agent itself costs nothing. It is MIT-licensed software from Nous Research, and there is no paid edition. What you actually pay for is two things: a machine that keeps the agent running, and the AI model it talks to. The prices for both are spread all over the place, and the headline number on most hosting pages leaves one of them out.
So I went through every realistic way to run Hermes Agent in September 2026 and wrote down what each one really costs per month once the model is included. Prices below were checked on 26 September 2026 against each provider's own page.

Two things jump out. First, almost everyone else is bring-your-own-key, so the hosting price is only half the bill. Second, the intro prices hide the renewal price. Hostinger's $5.99 is a two-year prepay that renews at $11.99.
The part the hosting price leaves out: the model
An agent is not a chatbot. When Hermes browses a page, runs a tool, or keeps a long conversation in context, it sends many more tokens than a single ChatGPT reply would. Here is what the model side usually looks like:
- Free models. OpenRouter's rotating
:freemodels and the Nous Portal free tier cost nothing, but they are rate-limited and change without notice. Fine for trying things, shaky for anything that runs on a schedule. - Your own API key. A light personal bot on a cheap model often lands at a few dollars a month. A bot that does research, browsing, or coding on a frontier model can reach $20–$50.
- A ChatGPT subscription. If you already pay for ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo), Hermes can use it through the

Plus is $20/mo with $22 of credits and a bundled tool gateway (search, image generation, browser). It is still a model subscription, not hosting.
True monthly cost for a typical personal bot
Say you use your bot most days on Telegram, it answers questions, summarises links and runs one or two scheduled tasks. As an illustrative budget, call that $3–$10 a month of model usage on a mid-priced model. Your number will differ, but adding the same budget to each hosting option shows the shape of it:

Hermes Cloud deserves a fair note: a stopped instance costs only $0.03 a day, so if your agent only needs to run a few hours a week, it can come out cheaper than any flat plan. For a bot that has to answer Telegram at 3am, always-on pricing is what counts.

You just want it working: a managed plan with credits
The biggest hidden cost of Hermes is the first evening: installing Python dependencies, wiring the Telegram token, keeping the process alive after you close the terminal. A managed host removes that.
