OpenClaw Launch has three tiers, and both frameworks (OpenClaw and Hermes Agent) cost the same. The Free Trial is $0 for 30 minutes with no credit card — a real agent on web chat with free models. The Lite plan is $3 for the first month, then $6/month (or $60/year, $5/month effective) with 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 10 GB storage, one instance, and $1/month in AI credits. The Pro plan is $20/month (or $200/year, $16.67/month effective) with 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB storage, up to 3 instances, and $10/month in AI credits. For comparison, self-hosting typically costs $5–20/month for a VPS plus 2–6 hours of setup and ongoing maintenance.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The Free Trial gives you a real deployed agent for 30 minutes at $0 with no credit card required — web chat, free tokens on capable free models, a built-in browser, and full command execution, so you can try OpenClaw and Hermes side by side before paying. Premium models (GPT, Claude) and vision are reserved for paid plans. After that, the Lite plan at $3 for the first month works as a low-risk extended trial: cancel before the month ends and you have only paid $3.
What is included in the AI credits?
Each paid plan includes monthly AI credits — $1/month on Lite and $10/month on Pro — that pay for your agent’s model usage through OpenRouter at standard rates with no markup. Light personal use often fits inside the included credits. If you need more, you can bring your own OpenRouter API key (BYOK) and pay usage directly, or connect an existing ChatGPT Plus or Claude subscription and use those models at no extra API cost. Switching between included credits and your own key does not require a redeploy.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Monthly plans cancel anytime from the Stripe billing portal in your dashboard settings — no cancellation process, no early-termination fee, and your instance stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Annual plans include a 30-day refund: cancel within the first 30 days and the first month is charged at the standard monthly rate ($6 for Lite, $20 for Pro), with the remaining annual payment refunded in full.
