Use Case
AI-Powered Home Automation
Control your smart home with natural language. Manage lights, thermostats, cameras, and routines through Telegram or Discord.
Why AI for Home Automation
Traditional smart home apps rely on rigid rules and complicated automations. Want to turn off all lights except the bedroom? That's a multi-step process in most apps. Want a routine that adapts to your schedule? You're writing YAML or dragging blocks in a flow editor.
An AI assistant understands natural language. Instead of programming rules, you just tell it what you want — and it figures out how to make it happen. It connects to your Home Assistant instance and translates your words into device actions, no programming required.
What Your AI Can Do
Lighting Control
Turn lights on, off, or dim them with natural language. Control individual rooms or entire floors at once.
Climate Management
Adjust thermostats, set temperature schedules, and optimize heating and cooling based on your preferences.
Security Monitoring
Check camera feeds, lock doors, arm your security system, and get alerts — all through a chat message.
Morning & Evening Routines
Trigger multi-step automations with a single command. "Start my morning routine" can open blinds, brew coffee, and play music.
Energy Optimization
Monitor energy usage, get recommendations to reduce waste, and automatically adjust devices during off-peak hours.
Voice-Free Control
No smart speaker needed. Control everything silently from your phone via Telegram or Discord — perfect for late nights or offices.
How to Set It Up
- Configure — Go to openclawlaunch.com, pick your AI model, choose Telegram or Discord, and enable the Home Assistant skill.
- Deploy — Click deploy. Your AI home controller launches in under 10 seconds with auto SSL and monitoring.
- Chat — Open Telegram or Discord and start controlling your home with natural language.
Example Commands
“Turn off all lights except the bedroom”
“Set thermostat to 72 when I get home”
“What's the camera showing in the backyard?”
“Start my morning routine”
Home Assistant Integration
OpenClaw connects to your Home Assistant instance through the Home Assistant skill. Once enabled, your AI can discover all your devices — lights, switches, sensors, thermostats, cameras, and more. It uses the Home Assistant API to send commands and read device states, so anything you can do in the Home Assistant dashboard, your AI can do through chat.
You provide your Home Assistant URL and a long-lived access token during setup. The AI then has full control over your smart home, and you interact with it entirely through Telegram or Discord.
Which Plan Do You Need?
Home automation works great on the Lite plan ($3/mo first month, then $6/mo). Smart home commands are lightweight — they don't require heavy AI processing, so the included credits go a long way.
