Resume Optimizer

Optimize your resume to pass ATS (Applicant Tracking System) filters and impress hiring managers. Tailors content to specific job descriptions with quantified achievements and strategic formatting.

Usage

Provide your current resume content and the target job description. The skill produces:

  • ATS Optimization: Keyword matching, formatting fixes, section structure
  • Achievement Rewrites: Transform job duties into quantified accomplishments (CAR format: Challenge, Action, Result)
  • Keyword Integration: Natural placement of job description keywords
  • Section Prioritization: Which sections to emphasize based on your experience level
  • Format Recommendations: Layout, length, and file format guidance
  • Tailoring Guide: How to customize the base resume for each application

Examples

  1. Tech Role: "Optimize my software engineer resume for a Senior Backend Engineer role at a fintech startup. I have 7 years experience in Python, AWS, and distributed systems."
  1. Career Change: "Rewrite my resume — transitioning from teaching to corporate training/L&D. Emphasize transferable skills and relevant achievements."
  1. Entry Level: "Optimize my new grad resume for a product management associate role. I have internship experience, a CS degree, and side projects."
  1. Executive: "Refine my VP of Engineering resume for a CTO role. Need to emphasize strategic leadership, not just technical skills. 15 years experience."

Guidelines

  • Use reverse chronological format unless you're changing careers (then consider functional/hybrid)
  • Every bullet point should follow: Action Verb + What You Did + Quantified Result
  • Mirror exact keywords from the job description — ATS systems look for exact matches
  • Keep it to 1 page for under 10 years experience, 2 pages maximum for senior roles
  • Remove objective statements — use a professional summary instead
  • Avoid graphics, tables, headers/footers, and columns — most ATS systems can't parse them
  • Save as .docx for ATS submission, PDF for direct email to hiring managers
