Feedback Template
Delivers constructive feedback effectively using proven frameworks. Covers positive reinforcement, constructive criticism, peer feedback, and upward feedback with templates and conversation guides.
Usage
Describe the situation requiring feedback, the behavior observed, the impact it had, and the desired outcome. Specify the relationship (manager to report, peer to peer, report to manager) and delivery context (written, verbal, formal review).
Examples
- "Write feedback for a team member who consistently delivers great work but misses deadlines"
- "Draft constructive feedback for a peer whose communication style is creating friction in cross-functional meetings"
- "Create a template for giving positive recognition that is specific and meaningful, not generic praise"
Guidelines
- Use the SBI framework: describe the Situation, the specific Behavior observed, and the Impact it had
- Focus on observable behaviors, not personality traits; 'you interrupted 3 times' not 'you're rude'
- Deliver feedback as close to the event as possible; delayed feedback loses context and impact
- Balance every constructive conversation with genuine recognition of what the person does well
- Ask for the recipient's perspective; effective feedback is a dialogue, not a monologue
