OpenClaw v2026.4.1: Chat-Native Task Board, Bedrock Guardrails & SearXNG Search

Source: GitHub

OpenClaw v2026.4.1, released on April 1, 2026, brings three major workflow upgrades alongside 30+ contributors fixes for gateway performance, approval systems, and plugin stability.

Chat-Native Task Board

The new /tasks command introduces a background task board directly within the chat interface. Users can view recent task details and monitor agent-local fallback counts without switching to a separate dashboard. This makes it easier to track what your agent is doing, especially during complex multi-step workflows.

AWS Bedrock Guardrails

Amazon Bedrock Guardrails integration brings enterprise-grade content filtering and safety controls to OpenClaw agents using AWS-hosted models. Organizations can now enforce topic avoidance, sensitive information filtering, and custom content policies through Bedrock managed guardrail system.

Bundled Web Search

A new SearXNG provider plugin for the web_search tool enables agents to search the web with configurable host support. This privacy-respecting metasearch engine gives agents internet access without relying on proprietary search APIs.

macOS Voice Wake and New Models

macOS users get a new Voice Wake option to trigger Talk Mode hands-free. The release also adds Z.AI models (glm-5.1 and glm-5v-turbo) to the provider catalog, and introduces agents.defaults.params for setting global default provider parameters.

Stability Improvements

Key fixes prevent raw provider failures from leaking into external chat channels (returning friendly retry messages instead), resolve task registry maintenance sweeps that caused startup hangs, and improve Discord gateway reconnect handling. The release received 166 community reactions.
