Course Curriculum Designer
Designs comprehensive course curricula using backward design principles. Maps learning outcomes to modules, sequences content logically, plans assessments, and creates pacing guides for semester or self-paced courses.
Usage
Describe the course subject, target audience, duration (weeks/months), delivery format (in-person, online, hybrid), and the key competencies students should have upon completion. Include any institutional requirements or standards.
Examples
- "Design a 16-week college course on data science fundamentals for non-CS majors with weekly labs"
- "Create curriculum for a 6-week online bootcamp on full-stack web development with project-based learning"
- "Build a semester-long high school AP US History curriculum aligned to CollegeBoard standards"
Guidelines
- Start with end-of-course learning outcomes and work backward to design modules, lessons, and assessments
- Sequence modules so each builds on previously learned concepts; identify and document prerequisites
- Balance content delivery (lectures, readings) with active learning (projects, discussions, labs)
- Plan both formative assessments (quizzes, check-ins) and summative assessments (exams, capstone projects)
- Include a pacing guide with flexibility built in for review weeks and unexpected schedule disruptions
